Castle Brass

About Us

We meet in Pembroke 21C Community Centre,Foundry House, Pembroke, on Saturday mornings 10.00 am until 12.15pm.

Castle Brass was formed in 1980 by John McInally when he was teaching in Pennar school, long before brass and wood wind peripatetic teachers were available to junior schools.

It started as a brass group but then woodwind players wanted to join so it became a mixed wind group but kept its original name.

In 1992 John became redundant because of falling school rolls and went to teach in London, his wife Val took over the band. John is now back in Pembroke and plays Bflat bass.

All players of any age and standard are welcome, adults who have returned to playing after many years or who would have liked to learn an instrument but never had the opportunity are most welcome.

We have a number of instruments to loan to beginners free of charge the only condition being that those who borrow them attend band practice regularly and make an effort to have lessons to enable them to progress.
